FFE Release Launch Celebration & Giveaway

Let's get this party started! Today, Falling From Eternity, is officially released!

There are some really fabulous stops along this tour, and you can also drop by here every day for a chance to win some pretty awesome prizes. I'm giving away the most I ever had for this release, and I wish everyone good luck.

FFE was probably one of the most difficult books I've ever written. It was my first venture in the world of "love stories" with just a dash of paranormal. Though I am still uber nervous about this release, I am so excited about this story and the things I learned along the way. I am already preparing a sequel, and am going to take a chance at a contemporary romance somewhere down the road.

II'd like to take a moment and thank all those who helped make this book possible.

To my incredible readers whose enthusiasm inspires me every day. My wonderful friend, and cover artist, Najla; thank you for being such an amazing person. Also, to two special people from my beta team, Laura & Ash, thank you for your help! My fabulous editor, Janet, I couldn't have finished this book without you. Tiffany King, thanks for being such a bright ray of sunshine and a delight to talk to. You inspire me. A special thank you to the group of fantastic bloggers who were willing to spend December reading, and touring for me. I ♥ you all! Last, but not least, to my loving husband and family. Your love and support makes all things possible.

Now to the giveaway!

Like I said, there are some super cool prizes!
The tour will last from Dec 1st - Dec 31st! That's a whole month to enter every day at my blog, as

Reviewing & Zombie Talk

Hello, hello! It's Sunday, my favorite day of the week!

First I'd like to jump totally off topic and begin my post with something that has nothing to do with reviewing. Tonight is Walking Dead! I won't post any spoilers for those of you who didn't see last weeks episode, and for those crazy people who don't watch. But after last weeks' EPIC, MIND BLOWING, TEAR JERKING episode, I am chomping on the bit to know what happens next.

P.S. AMC give me more Michonne!

Okay, now that I've gotten my Walking Dead rant over with I'd like to let everyone know that I am starting another blog strictly for reviews. I've gotten a lot of requests and I think it would be tons of fun to start reviewing on the side. I enjoy reading as much as I do writing and I can't wait to get started!

You can check out my new blog here
It's not much right now as I am just starting the building process, but hopefully it will grow and become a great place for other bloggers, readers and writers to meet and talk all things books.

Hidden

The House of Night series is an international phenomenon, reaching #1 on U.S., German, and UK bestseller lists, and remaining a fixture on the New York Times Children’s Series bestseller list for more than 140 weeks and counting. With nearly 12 million copies in print, rights sold in thirty-eight countries to date, and relatable, addictive characters, this series is unstoppable. Now in Hidden, the tenth installment of the series, the stakes are higher than ever before.

Neferet’s true nature has been revealed to the Vampyre High Council, so Zoey and the gang might finally get some help in defending themselves and their beloved school against a gathering evil that grows stronger every day. And they’ll need it, because Neferet’s not going down without a fight. Chaos reigns at the House of Night.

I just finished reading this book, and as with the rest of them, I really liked it. I'm so glad the series is continuing on, there are just so many questions that still need to be answered! Like whose side is Kalona really on, is Health ever coming back, which of the fledglings are gong to switch sides, and will Neferet EVER DIE!?

I know a lot of people hate these books, but they are terribly wonderful. I've read the rest of P.C.'s books and I enjoy her writing. I actually wish she wrote this series herself as I can tell the difference where her daughter steps in and I think I like P.C's writing much, much better. But nevertheless, this is one of my favorite series at the moment and I always get giddy when I see that the next book is out.

Cover Reveal!

And here it is, the cover for my brand new paranormal love story, Falling From Eternity! Please excuse me whilst I skip around my office and do a little happy dance! I had been struggling with this cover for weeks, not knowing how I wanted it to look, but the marvelous Najla Qamber saved me. She was able to piece together my confusing ideas, and create this masterpiece. I'd also like to thank Marcus J. Ranum for some great stock that helped create this wonderful cover!

Now I know everyone is probably wondering when this book is coming out...okay, I'm hoping you're all wondering when this book is coming out, but I don't have an official date yet but it will be soon. Very soon. I do, however, have a small snip-it from the book to share with you. Hopefully it will satisfy your cravings for now.

“I looked around the cemetery at the dead trees, and lonely tombstones; at the long deceased flowers and desolate landscape, and realized that maybe there really wasn’t anything more than this.

You live and then you die. My immortality wasn’t some gift to make a difference in the world, or to give me time to find purpose in life, but simply a curse. A curse to wander around in a stagnant void.

I could be nothing more than what I was, a creature of nightmare. My existence had no meaning, no point. I lived only to feed, to gorge myself on blood and satisfy my every desire no matter how dark or cruel.

That was what I was, and trying to change that was… useless.”

Challenge Week 6-9 Results + More

It has been too long since my last challenge post. I've been slacking lately. Mostly because I was sick for about two weeks, but also because I didn't have much to say. I've still been plugging away at my workout schedule, and even doing better at eating healthier, but my results are still stagnant. Right now I am sitting at a total weight loss since the very beginning of 4 lbs. Now, it doesn't really seem like much, but... well, to be honest, to me it doesn't sound like anything. I attribute that 4 lbs. to getting my hair cut. There is good news though, however small, but I think my clothes are starting to fit better... ish. I'm going on vaca next week, but I plan to keep up on my cardio. Hopefully I can talk my dad or one of my brothers to jog with me lol If not, at least the dog can't say no, right?

On another note, my 2012 Making Strides against Breast Cancer ended up being a beautiful day! I walked with my niece and nephew. We did the entire 3 mile walk, and had a lot of fun! Here is one of the pics of the crowd I took. After such hard work I thought I the kids deserved some frozen yogurt! I must say it was the perfect way to end the day.

Apparently we didn't get enough walking in, so the fam and I went to a nearby orchard the very next day to get first pick on pumpkins! It was lots of fun, and wayyyy too hot! I'm seriously ready for fall, and it takes to long to get here. It's October and I'm tired of 90 degree temps. I did take some pretty shots of the orchard though. You can see how insanely long the apple aisles are. With a wagon full of pumpkins it took ages to walk the whole way lol

I'm also finishing up my first love story. If you follow me on FB you probably already know that I am working on it and I've only got one chapter left to write. There's no cover for this one yet, and I am still ify on the title I've chosen but I hope its an enjoyable read for everyone.

On top of that I'm still working on Devour. I know a lot of people are patiently awaiting the third book in the series, and I'm working hard to finish it. I want it to be the very best it can be. But, I can firmly say I am 3/4 of the way through the first draft. :o) The story has taken on a life of its own as most of mine tend to do, but I like the way its going. My fingers are still crossed for a December 1st release. It's later than I had originally planned, but I want to give myself enough time to work on it. There are so many processes involved and I don't want to skip any of the important steps.

The good news though is that I am working on some excellent swag. Stuff that I've never personally done before and I hope that by offering something unique it will help draw people to the release event when I have it. In the past I've had trouble with events and I hope that things can go smoothly this time around. That's all for now! I need to get myself a slurpee and get back to the laptop and finish this new book!

2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

My friend and I at our first making strides walk

It is hard to believe that is has been a year since my very first Making Strides event. I'm excited to do another one and hopefully I'm in better shape this time around. I truly believe that these walks make a big difference by helping spread awareness but by also showing support. I'll be walking for my mama Janet again this year, and I'm excited because a few days afterward I'll be flying out to visit her.

Since 1993, 8 million walkers across the United States have raised more than $460 million to help fight breast cancer through Making Strides events. In 2011 alone, 1 million walkers across the country collected more than $60 million to help fight this disease.

This year I've named my team, Steppin' 4 Boobies. If you'd like to make a donation, learn more about this wonderful organization, or if you're interested in finding a location in your area just check out this link 2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Challenge - Week 5 Results

No good news today, but no bad news either. I must say I am becoming a bit disheartened by this whole challenge. After 5 weeks, I expected to start seeing some results, yet I feel I've done all this hard work with nothing to show for it. Maybe doing the old-fashion exercise and healthy eating method isn't enough? I started this wanting to stick to the natural way of doing things but I'm starting to believe that isn't enough. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have a little extra help from some kind of weight loss supplement. A few years ago I tried SlimQuick and liked it. I'm thinking I'll give it a try starting tomorrow and see if next weeks results are any better. This journey is quickly becoming more difficult than I realized. I thought I prepared myself for the toll it would take on my body physically, but I didn't prepare mentally at all. I don't know what to do to fix that but I'm determined to try. There are many days that I want to give up this challenge, and there are days where I am still desperately holding out hope that the pounds will start disappearing. For now, the blubber has won this battle, hopefully I win the war.

Last week results - 2 lbs lost
This week results - 2 lbs gained

The Broken Destiny Book Trailer!

I am super exited to be a part of Carlyle Labuschagne's book trailer release!
The cover is absolutely gorgeous, and I've been dying to read this book! It would look oh so pretty on my bookshelf :o)

This amazing new sci-fi series begins with The Broken Destiny: Book One of The Broken Series. Ava's People have been exiled to Planet Poseidon, where through a series of horrific events, Ava discovers that their existence has been fabricated by The Council, And She has a Destiny that could save them. Her Soul is a secret weapon that has been lost to an ancient race. To fulfill her destiny Ava needs to go through a series of "chances" that will reveal her true purpose. Throughout her journey she will become what she hates in order to save the ones she loves. And through it all she will find herself - for that is her Destiny, to rise above the fall.

The story continues in the next riveting book Evanescent  - due to release late 2013.

Prologue
All my life, I had searched for something, something I thought I ought to be. I felt like I was living someone else’s life, waiting for the awakening of my own. I felt like an empty shell burning for life. That was, until the day I lay dying in the prince’s chambers. I could no longer feel the pain from the tear in my gut. The only sensation left was a hollowed-out feeling that I had made a huge mistake in assuming that taking my own life, would have stopped the ancestors’ spirit from raging out. I had given up. I didn’t want to see myself killing the ones I loved. I was the Chosen one, but I threw it all away for what I thought would save a life. Could you end a life to save a life? I did, and I have regretted it ever since. I realized then that things like me are not meant to exist. What had been missing my whole life? It was I. To find myself, I had to lose myself in the worst possible way. The consequences of my actions became the legend of The Broken.

Challenge - Week 3 Results

No good news this week. I'd like to tell myself that my few days of weight lifting attributed to my results, but I just can't believe it. In fact, I know what caused them. It was my poor choice, while succumbing to the stress of having a broken water heater for 3 days.

I went to McDonald's. No, I'm not proud to admit it. The sad thing is, I don't even really like McDonald's! I know! What the heck was I thinking? If I was going to break the rules I should have at least gone some place I enjoyed. Sigh.

Despite my lack of self-control, I still went to the gym, but only 3 times this week instead of my usual 4. I cut my cardio in half, down to 30 minutes, and do another 30 on crunches, leg work, abs, etc. I guess I need to just keep chugging along, and maybe, eventually, I'll start losing again.

:o(

This weeks results = 1 lb. gained

Peasant Couple

Got into editing again this morning and had a difficult time. There aren't very many helpful tutorials online for the software I use. I think I did an okay job, though there are a lot of elements I couldn't accomplish that were in the tutorial. What do ya think?

Just made these eyes so I thought I'd add them too. Again, a lot of the steps I had to skip.

Fall Apart

I've been messing around with my photo editing software and just learned this new trick.  I think for a total beginner, it doesn't look too terrible. I can't wait to become more proficient in my editing, but its going to take lots of time and practice.

Challenge Week 2 Results

I'm not sure I can say how proud I am of myself this week. I failed miserably at eating healthy. Okay, I wasn't totally bad, but I did have a piece of cake more than once, and a bowl of popcorn. Now I'm left with deciding if the bad foods I love to eat, are with the guilt I feel afterward.

I'll get back to you on that one lol

I sat there, eating my cake and thinking with every bite I should stop eating it, but I couldn't! Forget word count goals, junk food is my new nemesis!

I did manage to do another 4 days at the gym this week, and I must say that I am ready to adjust my workout. Doing an hour of cardio each of those 4 days is turning me into a zombie. Starting tomorrow I'm going to half my cardio and throw in some weight lifting. I must say that I am praying they have the little diagrams on the machines, cause some of them look like torture devices and I haven't the slightest inkling on how to use them.

My next new "great weight loss" idea is yoga. Starting next week, I'm going to do one day of yoga on whatever day it is that I don't go to the gym. I'm thinking gym on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. That leaves Wednesday for yoga. I've never done yoga before, but I do know that's its no necessarily for losing weight. What I am hoping though is that it will help with muscle building, and maybe even help me relieve my shin splints.

On to my results. I can't say I'm very proud of this number. I was hoping for more, but deep down inside I knew that my cheating would come back to haunt me.

Weight loss this week = 1 lb.

Challenge - Week 1 Results

All week long I've been fighting the urge to jump on the scale and see if I'd lost any weight after each and every workout, but come last night I dreaded it. I wanted to lock the scale in my closet or toss it out the window. The fear and doubt finally kicking in and making me worry that I hadn't lost a single ounce. In fact, I had almost convinced myself that it was completely possible that I might have gained weight!

Crazy, I know.

I think for my first week I did rather well in regards to exercising. I went to the gym four days in a row. While I did manage to stay away from fast food, I could have practiced a healthier diet this last week. I'm guessing food is going to be my biggest struggle. Going to the gym expends a lot of energy and boosts your metabolism a bit, and this results in (for me at least) being hungrier!

I'm guessing this means I will need to hit the grocery store and focus on snacks that won't weight me down with added calories, but most of all, guilt. I actually felt guilty for eating a baked potato this week!

I did some searching online and found a lot of recipes that have been altered to make them healthier, so I'm going to give those a try this coming week. I'll try and add more vegetables and fruit, and most definitely some appropriate proteins to help curb my appetite the right way. I hear nuts are good, although I really wish french fries were a health food! I missed french fries this week. I don't know how many times I had to talk myself out of driving down to McDonald's to get some. I tried to tell myself that if I ordered a small it's not that bad, but who can just order a small fry and be satisfied? Not this girl, no way! I'm a fry freak, and if sweet potato fries are involved you better get outta my way!

Anyway, getting to my good news, I DID lose weight this week. I stepped on the scale first thing this morning and discovered that I lost....

Drum roll....

Exactly 2 pounds!

It's not much, but it's a start. I hope next week my results will be just as good if not better.

Challenge

As some of you may know, I am a military wife. If that ain't a tough enough job, I don't know what is. Right now my husband is deployed and I'm trying to think of things to not only keep my spirits up, but to keep me... I suppose the best word is distracted.

Distraction has been one of the best things to get me through these deployments (aside from my attention needy cat, chocolate and family); and even though we are on #4, it really hasn't gotten any easier. I thought it would, but I am quickly learning that I was wrong.

Writing has helped a ton, but I want to do more. So, against my better judgment I've decided to start exercising. Okay, maybe it's not against my better judgement, but my muscles would say otherwise. Not to mention that summer is probably the worst time to decide to get in shape. What am I going to tone up for, so I can look better in a knitted sweater or thick winter jacket?!

Have I lost my mind?

Anyway, maybe I'm crazy for deciding to share this journey, but I'm hoping that it'll keep me motivated by posting about it. This is definitely not the first time I said I was going to get in shape and totally quit! Besides it's always easier when you're not doing it alone right?

My goal is to lose 30 lbs. in 17 weeks. Now, is that possible? Probably not. Hell, if I could lose 10, I'd be ecstatic, but my goal is 30 and I'm sticking with it. Only time will tell how close I actually get to that goal.

I won't be doing any crazy diets like sprinkling magic dust on my food, or popping pills that will mysteriously make my mid-drift disappear. I've decided to take a different approach. Good, old-fashioned exercise, and healthier eating. Doesn't sound too hard, right? That's what I keep telling myself. It will be easy, I just have to do it!

So, tomorrow is day one, which means I'll be posting next Sunday with the first week of my results.
I currently weight X (Yes, I've chickened out in sharing my exact weight! A girl needs to retain a little mystery doesn't she?) I will, however, be posting the number of pounds lost during each weekly post.

So, wish me luck everyone and pray for me!

Preparing for the Chaos Blog Tour

It's finally almost time!
The hardest book I've ever had to write, so far, is so close to being ready to publish!
I can breathe now, right?? I feel like I can! lol
For now.

I think the blog tour is one of my most favorite parts of being an indie.
It's exciting to get to see what everyone thinks of the book, to see who is excited about reading it,
and even who is begging me to finish the next in the series.
I actually wasn't sure I would publish the whole series until I got such amazing feedback from everyone.

So, those of you who have begged me, teased me, befriended me and even yelled at me, thank you! Chaos might never have been if you all hadn't pushed me so hard. Sometimes all it takes is a good swift kick in the rear to get the creative fire burning. ;o)

For those of you who are wondering, there WILL be a 3rd book. I'm not exactly sure when it will come out, but I'd like for that to happen before the end of the year.

I think it's time I finally reveal the bookmarks for Chaos. They were designed by the amazing, and incredible Naj at
I can't say enough amazing things about her as an artist and even a reviewer, but most importantly as a friend. Love ya Naj!!

Aren't they gorgeous?!

For those of you who don't know, I'm totally obsessed with book covers and bookmarks, etc. Seriously!
Sometimes I just search the net for covers, images and drawings just to get book ideas. Naj is definitely one of those artists whose work speaks to me and makes me want to write. I know when she designs the cover for book 3, I'm going to fly to my keyboard to get it started.
( Psst Naj! Will you PLEASE design book 3 for me? lol)

Okay, shall I get back to the point?
I was suppose to write this blog to talk about my blog tour!
So far, I've planned a release date for Chaos as of June 30th. I've been working on my listings of all the reviewers who reviewed Released for me, which was a long time ago. Before I send out the email I wanted all you Bloggers out there who are interested to get the chance to reach out and say, "Hey, Megs! I want to review Chaos, too!"

So question is, do you want to review Chaos? If you do shoot me an email at:
megan_duncan @ live dot com (you'll need to fix the address properly so it'll work, I just didn't want to get spammed. I made that mistake before and it wasn't fun)

Just so ya'll know, review copies will only be available in eBook format. Sorry paperback reviewers, I sadly just can't afford to ship them out anymore. As far as prizes, those are still a secret for now, but they will definitely be exciting! :o)

A New Muse

I recently discovered an artist whose work captured me. I've always liked art, but never so much so that I had a favorite artist, or even paid attention to anything. I would say my knowledge of art begins and ends at my memories of watching Bob Ross on TV as a child.

This has now changed.

I can now say that I DO have a favorite artist, and her name is Megan Duncanson. :o) Now, of course, I must say she has a fabulous name, but an even more fabulous talent. For days I've been daydreaming about redecorating my office just so I can display some of her work. The first chance I'm able to buy one of my favorite pieces the demolition and reconstruction on my new writing space will begin!

I've pasted some of Megan Duncanson's work below, these are just some of my favorites. If you want to check out her website it's http://madartgallery.net/ or http://www.madartdesigns.com/. She's also got a blog! http://meganduncanson.blogspot.com/ What's really cool is not only can you purchase canvases, but you can also get custom linens, clocks, jewelry boxes, throw pillows, etc., all with your favorite design! How cool is that?

Chaos Synopsis

The excitement is mounting! I couldn't wait any longer to reveal the synopsis for Chaos, book 2 in my Agents of Evil series. It will be published next month, but I plan to continue with my sneak peeks until then.

Is any shot at living, worth dying for?
They thought they’d be safe, but a world ruled by chaos doesn’t die easily.

When Max turned on the radio transmissions assuring safety, they came. But, it wasn’t just survivors of the demon apocalypse that crawled their way into the abandoned military base. A myriad of beastly demons unlike any they’ve ever seen, came as well. Abby, and her companions, struggle to survive as the evil around them grows. Desperate to endure, and to defend their fellow survivors, Abby and a squad of fierce survivors, take on a dangerous mission that has deadly consequences.
